Bella’s Backpackers Hostel

Being the only hostel in San Ignacio, Bella’s is a fantastic place to hunker down in this town. The layout of the building makes it easy to be social — an enormous rooftop terrace with great views of town and plenty of couches and hammocks to lounge on.

The place is clean and offers everything you’d want from a hostel: kitchen, laundry ($3.5usd a load with machine, or free sink and lines to hang), wi-fi, fellow trampers and a gracious and entertaining host — Leslie, a local guy who lives here, keeps the place fully functional and makes you feel right at home.

Under the same ownership as Bella’s Backpackers Hostel in Caye Caulker where we stayed in November 2011 — we loved it there and the vibe seems to have carried over seamlessly.

Hi-Et Guesthouse

Hi-Et Guesthouse has a homey feel from the first minute you walk in. The rooms may be small, but each comes with a private balcony — and with the location of this place, they can be a great spot to take in the local flavor of town.

Wi-fi available. No kitchen use, breakfast not included but you are welcome to use the refrigerator. And you can get your laundry done for a small fee if you’re staying longer than a couple nights.

Double rooms with a shared bathroom go for $12.50usd (25BZE)
Rooms with private bathroom (2 beds) go for $25usd (50BZE) and $5usd extra for a third person.
