Sleeping: Juayua

Hostel AnuahacClick here for more photos of Anuahac

Hostel Anuahac, located just a block away from the market, is not only a great location to hang out waiting for the food stands to get set up, but is also run by one of the friendliest women we’ve met down here.

Maria was quick to welcome us into the hostel and show us around, letting us choose from the two dorm rooms and engage in some friendly discussion.  The hostel is set up around a beautiful courtyard with hammocks hanging in the shade and plenty of tables and chairs to sit and eat or play cards.  There is a place to do your own laundry and hang it dry in the upstairs patio, along with a fully equipped kitchen — not that you’ll need one with the food fair right down the street.

Hostel Anauhac even has a full sized French press for you to make some delicious, local, organic coffee — available for purchase in the hostel, or for cheaper in the market.

The rooms are clean and neat, not getting too hot during the day and staying nice and cool in the evenings.  There is a TV with chairs and a small DVD collection if you’re stuck in on a rainy day, along with a small book exchange.  If you don’t feel like cooking your own breakfast, you can order it straight from Maria for pretty fair prices as well.
