Coffee Tour: Cafe Sitton

There are a number of coffee tours in the Boquete area and, trust us, chiricanos grow great coffee. Now, these tours generally start in $25USD range and include transportation, a tour of the plantation grounds, an explanation of coffee cultivation, and a tasting. The Cafe Sitton tour is the tramper version and the stunningly low price of $4.30USD ($3USD for the tour and $1.40USD for round trip transportation in colectivo) reflects this fact. This tour is definitely geared more towards the mechanics and economics of coffee cultivation rather than the pastoral beauty of coffee country. That said, it’s pretty interesting and you walk away with a greater understanding of the true cost of a cup of coffee. Also, it only costs $3USD.

Rather than booking a tour with one of the area hostels, you simply show up on a weekday between 8am-11am with at least two other people and request a tour. NOTE: The tour is only offered in Spanish.
