Getting // Going: Santa Catalina

Getting to Santa Catalina is a little difficult, and can be kind of expensive depending on where you’re coming from.

David >> Santa Catalina (via Santiago and Sona)

To get from David, take a bus from the central terminal to Santiago. It will cost $9USD and take approximately three and a half hours. From Santiago, take a colectivo to Sona for $2.10USD which will drop you off on the main drag in Sona in a little over an hour. The buses to Sona leave regularly, around every 45 minutes (or when the bus is full). From Sona, four buses leave daily for Santa Catalina beginning at 5am. The last bus leaves at 4pm. From the bus terminal, cross the street and wait at the righthand side of the building for either the “Santa Catalina” or “San Lorenzo” bus. From The bus from Sona takes a couple of hours to reach Santa Catalina, costs $4.65USD and can drop you off on any part of the main drag. Buses back to Sona leave at 07:15h, 08:20, 13:30h and 15:00h.

Santa Catalina >> Santiago (via Sona)

Buses to Sona leave Santa Catalina at 07:15h, 08:20h, 13:30h and 15:00h from the corner where the main road and the road to Playa Estero meet. It costs $4.65USD and takes between and hour and a half and two hours. From Sona, it costs $2.10USD to get to Santiago with buses leaving regularly nearly every 45 minutes (or when the bus is full).
