Eating Dangriga
King Burger
King Burger is located across the main bridge in town, off to the left. If you need help finding it, look for the lines of people who often can be found waiting outside. In addition to burgers, which at $5 BZE ($2.50 USD) are the most economical option, King Burger offers great fish dishes as well. They serve up Grouper, Snapper, or Hog Fish, for $16.50 BZE ( $8.25 USD). And if you save room, you should definitely try the homemade ice cream that the locals stand in long lines at times to purchase, for $2.50 BZE ($1.25 USD).
Riverside Cafe
Before you cross the main bridge, check to your right for the Riverside Café, one block down, . Here, burgers are $4 BZE, Cheeseburgers are $5 BZE, and for $8 BZE you can add fries, for a meal that should hold you over if you are just passing through town. Tramp note: Hamburger here means a ham sandwich. Be sure to order Cheeseburger for your standard, american-style beef patty. We made that mistake so that you shouldn’t have to.
* Ponce’s Panades Shop
This spot is the Border Tramp Pick for eating in Dangriga. From Val’s, go to the main street, cross the bridge, and Ponce’s will be on the right just across from the Police Station and behind a media company, Its a pink building. They have the most food for the best price, offering giant burritos that cost only $2.50 BZE ($1.25 USD), and you can fill up on Sallutes (similar to a pupusa) or tacos, and still have plenty of cash left over to enjoy a beer or two.
Fresh Eats
Before you cross the bridge, to the right, you will see a fish cleaning station along the river where you can find local fishermen offering their freshest catches for $5 BZE/pound. You can also go 200 meters past the Riverside Café and a fisherman with a net and cooler is there most of the afternoon. If you have the time and desire to enjoy a hostel-cooked meal during your tramping, you can’t beat this offer.
Alexie’s Restaurant
This place has great fried chicken served with beans and tortillas, a fill-ya-up meal for $10-12BZE. You can also get your hands on a burger for $4-5BZE. If you want some local delights try out their daily specials that are usually the typical chicken or oxtail stews. (Hint: Get the lemon pie for dessert!) Family Restaurant
Located just before the town bridge this is your go-to spot for picking up fast food and beer. They are open late, until 12:30am, and are generally pretty packed.

On the other side of the bridge you’ll find Letty’s Kitchen just on the right. You can get the classics done right here for a great price. You know it’s a good place to eat when you see a table full of the local police force eating lunch.
Local Market
