The Funky Dodo Backpacker’s Hostel

There are a number of sleeping options in Hopkins, though most of them are above and beyond the tramper budget. Fortunately, the recently opened Funky Dodo Backpacker’s Hostel is there to welcome tramp travelers with cold drinks, hot meals, and open arms. Located a short walk from the center of town, this hostel offers dorm accommodations as well as private rooms. It is colorful, has plenty of space for lounging on hot coastal days and the in-house bar is lively at times and serves up reasonably priced beers and mixed drinks. Funky DoDo is under new management so things may begin to change. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxed place to stay in Hopkins, the Funky Dodo is a good place to be.
