Shangrila Hostel
The only hostel in Cahuita, the Shangrila is clean, quiet, and a two-minute walk from the bus station. The 4-bed dorms are spacious, clean, and come equipped with small lockboxes for guarding valuables. The private rooms, if in a group of three, average out to the same price as the dorms. There is a large kitchen, wifi, and a laptop available for guest use. The large common area is perfect for relaxing after a hike through the National Park. The hostel itself attracts most of the younger tramper crowd, so if you’re looking to get a group together for a beachside picnic Shangrila is the place to stay.

Cabinas Palmer
This hotel, closer to the center of town than the Shangrila, is run by a welcoming pair of older Costa Ricans that go out of their way to make sure your stay in Cahuita is enjoyable. The spacious rooms with private bathrooms are a tramper-friendly $10USD per person and include free coffee in the morning, access to the shared kitchen, and wifi. The hotel is centered around a garden area and each room boasts a hammock and an outdoor seating area perfect for mixing cocktails and mingling with other guests. You can usually find the owner at her table, sewing away and watching her soap operas, giving the place a homey feel you’re unlikely to find anywhere else in town.
