Iguana Rana Hostel
It’s not exactly a diamond in the rough, but for $6usd (50 quetzales) this place gives you a bed and kitchen use — which is nice given the plethora of budget-busting restaurants here. Being able to cook up your own breakfast is a budget saver on it’s own.
A bed alone will cost you $4.50usd (35 quetzales), with kitchen use for an extra $2usd (15 quetzales). If you’re traveling as a couple, there are some bigger beds you can share for $5.80usd (45 quetzales) total. There is also wi-fi available here.
There is also a bar here that serves up 2×1 cocktails nightly and beer at a price as low as you’ll find anywhere else. Definitely the most budget friendly place in Flores.
Hostel Los Amigos
If you’re tramping solo-style, this is the place for you. Loads of travelers, a bar, charming courtyard with computers, hammocks, and all sorts of comfortable places to relax and meet fellow travelers for info and tips — Los Amigos is as good a hostel as any, and better than most.
For $5.80usd (45 quetzales) you get a dorm bed, locker included. For just under $13usd you can get a private room with two double beds, shared bathroom.
Wi-fi is included, but there is not kitchen use here, which is a drawback. There is a restaurant and bar here, and the prices are comparable to any of the other slightly pricey restaurants in town. Drink specials and happy hour are popular offerings after sunset.
Hotel Mirador del Lago
If you’re traveling with a friend, this modest hotel with gorgeous lake vistas is a steal for trampers. The cheapest rooms here are about $11usd (90 quetzales) and are basic: 2 beds, private bathroom with hot water — but why not spend the extra couple bucks and get the private balcony with breathtaking views of sunrise and moonrise over the lake each day and night? Definitely worth the upgrade in our opinion!
