Comitan is smaller, less abrasive and perhaps a little less exciting than San Cristobal de las Casas but it gets you closer to the border of Guatemala, and closer to some awesome nearby attractions. In our opinion, it’s worth the visit. The town is quiet, but the central park is open, clean, and inviting. There are numerous places to sleep, to eat, and to shop in Comitan.
