Sleeping: Sabancuy

Cheap_Travel_Mexico_Central_America_Sabancuy_Hotel_Bella_VistaHotel Bella Vista

The Hotel Bella Vista is located just above the bus terminal at the town square. The rooms are modest with beds, bathroom, TV, air conditioning and/or a fan. The view is nice looking out over the lagoon and town square, but it’s certainly obvious why it was named Bella Vista and not Bello Sonido – this little spot can get quite noisy in the mornings. Buses start making their drop-offs and pick-ups before 7 in the morning.

RATES

Double room with wi-fi, television and a fan — $17.20USD ($230 pesos)

Room with a shared bathroom — $15USD ($200 pesos)

Decent prices for a decent hotel.

Plaza SabancuyCheap_Travel_Mexico_Central_America_Plaza_Sabancuy_1

Plaza Sabancuy is the same price as Hotel Bella Vista and the rooms are just about the same quality, possibly a couple negligible points better in comfort and noise pollution – but there is no TV (also a negligible difference). However, Bella Vista had the upper-hand when it comes to wi-fi access. We spent most of the evening on the balcony trying to pick up the signal at the Plaza.

It is a larger hotel and located in the towns interior – but the town is so small that this hardly matters either. So when it comes to staying the night in Sabancuy it’s up for grabs, and odds are you’ll be equally pleased with either hotel. Xavi prefers the plaza while I am partial to the Bella Vista.
