Bambu Hostel
Bambu Hostel is the Border Tramp pick for David. The hostel is located in the San Mateo neighborhood, near the Supermercado 99 and the only McDonalds in town. The cheaper dorms are basic, but come with mosquito nets and the private rooms are a good deal for larger groups. For a couple dollars more, you can have AC and a much thicker mattress. It’s worth investigating. There is wifi and a laptop for general use, a kitchen, a bar, and a POOL for those hot David afternoons. The hostel itself is set around a garden and offers plenty of shady hangout spots and the requisite collection of hammocks.
Getting // Going : Bambu Hostel
There is a bus stop nearby (“Azucarero”) where you can catch a colectivo to anywhere in town for $0.35USD. If you are coming from the central bus terminal you can take any bus that passes by Supermercado 99 and it will drop you off about three blocks from the hostel. The bus from the border will drop you at the central terminal. If you ask around you can also find a bus that will drop you off at the “Azucarero” stop, putting you a short walk away from the hostel.
